The 2024 Boilermaker High School Challenge is an exhilarating event that brings together young athletes from across the region. This annual competition held in Utica, New York, showcases the determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship of high school students as they push their limits and strive for victory.
About the High School Challenge:
The Boilermaker High School Challenge is a unique opportunity for high school students to participate in a race during Boilermaker weekend AND show off some school spirit! The race is incorporated into the iconic boilermaker that has attracted elite runners from around the world. Except with this challenge, you get to represent your school – how cool is that?! It offers a thrilling experience for young athletes to compete in a supportive and electrifying atmosphere.
There are many benefits associated with the High School Challenge. It promotes physical fitness and encourages a healthy lifestyle, instilling values of discipline and perseverance. The event also fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among participants as they support and cheer for each other throughout the race.
Tips to prepare for race day:
To excel in the Boilermaker High School Challenge, participants need to prepare both mentally and physically. This involves regular training, including running, strength exercises, and proper nutrition. It’s essential for athletes to set goals, create a training plan, and gradually increase their endurance to tackle the demanding course.
Signing up:
If you are a CURRENT student between 7th and 12th grade, show your school spirit and be part of the Boilermaker School Challenge Presented by GPO Federal Credit Union.
It’s easy to participate!
- When registering for the 15K or 5K, select the school you are attending when prompted.
- Participants must be current students or 2024 graduates.
After the Boilermaker, each school is evaluated based on the results of the top 5 male and top 5 female runners for both the 15K and 5K. Awards are given to the school with the fastest cumulative time and the highest percentage of participation for each event.
